I’m going to tell you where to go. Every single month of the year. With a little inspiration from: places that I’ve been, places on my bucket list, and a book by DK Eyewitness travel called “Where To Go When”.

The MAYAN in MARCH!

Where is that? Mayan Riviera, Mexico. The Cancun resorts (the northern part of the coast) are known more for partying. Then there are resorts scattered all along the coast south of Cancun and finishing approximately at Tulum.

Why Mayan? The amazing history and culture of the ancient society (still in existence! The Mayan people are very friendly if you are lucky to meet one) of Mayans will keep your brain stimulated while you enjoy the sandy beaches, tropical weather, wonderful food and hospitality of this region. There are many resorts all along the Mayan coast, each unique and there is definitely one right for your specific needs.

Why in March? Well, I went in late February and the weather was fantastic. According to my handy travel guide, March is more of the same great weather and it is a great time to travel here. I stayed at the Dreams Tulum resort as a bridesmaid in a wedding… I highly recommend this resort: amazing spa, chilled scented face towels and champagne upon arrival, unreal food and drinks, family-friendly. I could go on.

How? Book your all-inclusive resort in advance (do your research first and read reviews to find the one that best suits your needs). Pre-arrange transportation from the international airport in Cancun to your resort. Book excursions (this can be done at the resort). Spend a week. Relax and enjoy the balmy paradise.

Must-sees and dos- You must go to a Coco Bongo location (there is one in Cancun and one in Playa del Carmen). It is a lot of fun and a cool show. You must get a cheap massage on the beach- $20, how could you go wrong? You MUST check out the Chichen Itza or Coba ruins. If you can, book the excursion that includes checking out the Coba ruins (unlike Chichen Itza, you can climb these ruins), a Mayan traditional lunch, zip-lining, and a dip in the underground cenote. You also MUST spend at least one day doing nothing productive.

Runner up for where to go in March: To the Fallas Festival in Valencia, Spain. I’ve been to several places in Spain but unfortunately missed out on Valencia. It is on my list, though! And March would be the perfect time, so that I could check out the festival that runs for three weeks and includes fireworks, paper mache puppets, fantastic food, traditional music and dancing. Sounds like mid-March starts off with a bang in this beautiful Spanish city.
